We are very excited about the re-release of our first ever Estate Meritage. Four extra years of bottle aging have rendered this first-release Meritage silky beyond belief, with flavor development that can only happen with age! This library release is fanatics club exclusive and has been long awaited by everyone!

The term Meritage (taken from “merit” and “heritage”) was created in 1988 to represent Bordeaux-style wine blends. To legally call your wine a Meritage, you must belong to the Meritage association, which stipulates that the wine must be a blend of only Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petite Verdot, Merlot and Carmenere), it must be your best blend, and under 25,000 cases. We always cross blend our Cabernet and Merlot. With our Cabernet Franc vines coming into production in 2010, we were able to make a true Meritage.

The 2010 vintage of our Estate Meritage is a blend of 48% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet franc. All the grapes for this wine were grown on our ranch and farmed organically. The small yields and thick skins from our vineyard produce very concentrated wines in both color and flavor. This wine shows wonderful dark berry and ripe plum aromas with hints of flint and clove. Over two years in French Oak barrels has helped to soften the wine and add notes of vanilla and cedar.
