2011 Chardonnay, Dry Creek Valley

Our 2011 Chardonnay benefited by the unusually cool growing season that for many winemakers was a very challenging vintage. Settled along the west bank of the Russian River, the Dry Creek fruit experienced a mixed micro-climate as the vineyard is planted nearly on the border between Russian River Valley AVA and Dry Creek Valley AVA.

Due to the situation of the vineyard, we were able to get the best of both AVAs. In comparison to many Russian River-style chardonnays, ours blossoms with aromatics developed by a slightly warmer climate. This 2011 Chardonnay has an luscious tropical fruit character with notes of pineapple and passion fruit. Although the wine went through full malolactic fermentation and shows a seamless, rich mouth-feel, it retains a balanced crispness that shows off the fruit elegantly. It will improve with age through 2018, or simply enjoy it today.
