2011 Reserve Pinot Noir, Love Vineyard

Love is in the air and also in the bottle. We are now releasing our first vintage of Pinot Noir from the Love Vineyard. This small vineyard, located on Westside Road just down the street from William Selyem in the Russian River Valley, has been producing award winning Pinot Noir for many years. The year 2011 proved to be a small yield but spectacular vintage for Pinot Noir. With only 1.5 tons to the acre, this vineyard produces incredibly dark and concentrated wine. With any great wine comes a great story. I would like to congratulate our wine club members, Sara and Jim, for their recent engagement at our winery. Paul took them up to the top of the vineyard, overlooking the entire Dry Creek Valley. Jim had a special label that he placed on one of our bottles that read, "Will you marry me?" He read her a love letter and then got down on one knee. It was very special and we wish them the best! It is very fitting that the Love Vineyard Pinot Noir will be arriving on their doorstep this month. With 18 months in the barrel and 10 months in the bottle, it has been a pleasure to note this wine’s development as it has aged. It is full of ripe strawberry and cherry aromas with subtle cinnamon and nutmeg spices. It is tasting great now, but I would drink it over the next 5 years as the ripe fruit subsides and more complex components are revealed. Make sure to order enough that you can try it several times over the next few years you will be amazed with its development of character. Happy holidays and may your lives be filled with love...
