2012 Viognier, Sonoma County

With two Best of Class awards and three Gold Medals, the 2011 Viognier left some pretty big shoes to fill. We are happy to announce that 2012 is a vintage to celebrate! Especially after the small crops and troublesome vintages we have endured the past three years.
Heavy Spring rains jump-started the growing season. With the warm weather in May and June, you could almost watch the shoots grow before your eyes. Blessed with ideal summer temperatures (50's and 60's at night to 90's in the daytime) we were able to pick at ideal ripeness without the worries of climbing sugar levels or looming rain clouds. Winemakers could hardly contain their excitement in the quality of flavor in the 2012 vintage, and growers jumped for joy with one of the heaviest crops in decades. The 2012 Viognier is orange blossoms and tropical fruit on the nose with flavors of tangerine and white peach. As usual, our barrel fermentation in neutral French oak adds body and richness to this light and floral wine. Enjoy this wine immediately, or within the next year while the fruit is fresh and the acidity bright.
