2015 Cabernet Franc, Dry Creek Valley
Gold Medal - SF Chronicle
91 points! - CA Grapevine
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This wine is an absolute winner and we are excited to add Dry Creek Cab Franc to our repertoire. These older, low yielding vines are grown on the northern benchland of Dry Creek Valley at the end of West Dry Creek Road. Different growers will always argue over the merits of old vines vs. young vines. As a vine ages, it becomes less productive. When vines produce less fruit, the flavors are more concentrated in the fruit that they do produce. This wine is delicious and proves our theory about old vines right out of the gate with a bouquet of ripe berry notes and soft vanilla on the nose. A luscious mouthfeel with flavors of blackberry, blueberry, subtle violet and red plum. Hints of cherry cola mingle with soft tannins and vanilla oak on the finish. Pair with a juicy sirloin topped with caramelized onions and wild mushrooms.
