Our release of the 2016 Ponzo Zinfandel has been long awaited by many futures buyers and cult followers! Grown at the border of Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley, the Ponzo vineyard produces Zinfandel fruit that benefits from foggy mornings and warm summer days. The result is a sophisticated and layered Zinfandel which charms all palates with a very fruit-forward introduction. Juicy blackberry notes greet you on the bouquet, mingling with cozy aromas of toasty oak and dark cocoa. Playful aromatic wisps of cotton candy beg you to take a sip. Full bodied on the palate, this Zin unfolds its signature wild strawberry notes along with nostalgic flavors of black cherry cola and soft, lingering tannins. Pair this versatile wine with all sorts of dishes such as lamb chops, beef Bolognese or baby back ribs!
Dark and brooding, yet polished and well-built, with deep blueberry, grilled anise and bitter chocolate accents that persist on the long finish. -Wine Spectator
